small spark from +12v wire to amp +12v terminal

Connecting the main fuse at the battery is basically the same thing as what I did. I just made the connection at the amp. It was a small spark right when the wire touched the +12v terminal on the amp. I have had this happen plenty of times with no problem.
i never get a spark installing in line fuse last,so idk,id rather be safe than sorry.good luck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Hopefully you're just having a RCA problem. There's nothing wrong with the way that you hooked it up, although most people recommend hooking up the power before the ground. The reasoning behind that is just for safety encase you happen to drop the power wire that the amp is connected to; if the amp isn't already grounded then it can't short out. Have you tried replacing it with another amp?

On a side note, since I run my amps strapped I get a spark nearly every time that I insert the fuses at my fuse block. The spark is pretty big too, it will leave a black spot on the fuses. The reasoning is probably due to a difference in the two amps capacitor potential (voltage), which is just trying to make the charges go into equilibrium.

The amp powers up and shows the power light. The protection light doesn't come on, but there is no sound. I have checked everything possible. My wiring is right. Like I said this amp is replacing another that was working fine before it came out.

There is no chance I shorted to the amp case either.

there is no sound coming from your radio or no sound coming from your woofers? Maybe you resetted the head unit when you unplugged the negative, so the subwoofer level got set to 0?

I figured it out today. I have two identical speakers split up in two different vehicles. Both of them failed at the same time believe it or not. I got a 9v battery today and went to checking speakers 'cause I already checked everything else. The wires connecting to the speaker cone from the terminals came loose on both speakers. The amp was working the whole time, the problem was with the speakers.
