Small sealed build for room/home theater

Well, I was really bored and staring at the scrap pieces of wood so I went and took a hammer to the little tiny particle board "ported box" that came with the 8" woofer for my surround sound system.

I measured up all the pieces I had and came up with a box that was 8" tall, and 12" deep and wide. It's a little short stubby cube that will get some feet and it'll be downfiring in the corner of my room or something.

Anyways, this box is constructed with NO SCREWS to prove that it is in fact the wood glue combined with good quality cuts and joints that keeps a box together.

Here's the side and the bottom of the box glued and clamped together

Last sides put on and I cut out the circle. Queer *** circle guide of mine only goes down to like a 9 1/2" circle and I needed a 7" circle, so this was all free hand. Not bad for wingin' it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Itty bitty moofa installed and I rounded over the face to make it look a little nicer. It'll get a finish sand and a coat of paint + more sanding + more paint shortly.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention, it's like 0.45 cubic feet and it's getting like 80W RMS and already sounds better than that ***-pile of a box that came with it, could use a bit of polyfill though to smooth out the highs and extend the lows a tad. For a little 8" though, it fills in my room nicely for music and movies. Nothing crazy but hey, it was all free //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Sorry for the late reply, but I'm actually going down to Purdue this fall... hows that work out with loud stereo + dorm room. I can for see many problems there. What's the rules and regulations on that sort of thing in an environment like that. I was hoping to make a few towers and a sub box in the corner of the room, bigger than this 8" of course.

I already want something bigger. Mach 5 audio's MJ-18 looks really nice and for 155 bucks who can complain. I'll probably build something thAt's like 8 cubes tuned to 28 Hz and make it look like a large bookshelf along the wall or somethig. That's when I get my Dayton home audio amp from parts express. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
