Small or Big ported box

Whats the advantage of having a big ported box? Im using a sealed box with about 1.75 per sub sealed and I only have about 2 cubes per sub available for 2 12's and I want to tune it to about 35hz for a good mix of SPL and SQ. If I only have 1.75 cubes per sub @ 35 hz how will it sound compared to 3 cubes per sub @ 35hz?

Bigger ported boxes usually have a spike in output around their tuned frequency. Smaller boxes usually have a smoother output but not as loud.

A smaller box would suit your needs for SQ and SPL.
