Small, lightweight subs?

Well, I've been giving serious consideration to buying a supercharged 88 MR2 that's nearby. It's a nice little car, but there is no real trunk to speak of (the front compartment really only holds the spare tire and not much else). There is limited room inside, and so my 12W7 definately wouldn't be able to fit in the car if I bought it. I don't have exact measurements available, but I would estimate the largest enclosure I could fit to be about 1cu. ft. including the sub itself. I'd like to be able to continue using my JBL BP300.1 rather than investing in a different amp, so I'm thinking that an 8" sub would be ideal.

I really had never paid much attention to 8" subs, as I never really expected to be owning a car with so little space, but I'm curious as to how everyone is liking the RE 8" and other such subs?

Such cool cars...If you do get one, check out SCCA autocrossing by all means...

They are great cars for that.

As far as your subwoofer inquiry, you might be interested in this thread I started on CAF a little while back:

Wow, those drivers have very unique properties. I agree, I would hate to recone an Illusion sub... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Wouldn't a 10 inch IDQ v2 or v3 fit into that little space in the MR2? They seem to have a small motor structure.
