Slot port or aero?

Currently I have a 15" SSD w/ copper coils in a 3.5cf enclosure tuned to 35Hz being fed 1000 watts rms. I want better lows so I'm going to build a 4cf enclosure tuned to 30Hz.

Now if I use aero ports, I can only use one 6" flared aeroport I bought from PE. This only gives me 28 square inches of port area. Do this think that would be adequate for my sub in this enclosure? Or should I go with a slot port and give it more port area? Thanks

The thing I like about Aeroports and pipe ports in general is you can play with the tuning. To change the tuning on a slot ported enclosure, you get to start over from scratch.

Thats not true, just change the width of the slot. Im using a 6" aero in a 4 cube box with my mt and it works just fine.

Aeros!

Either (2) 4" or a 6". But go with a 6". Now tuning to 30 hz would make your 6" port be about 18" long, so you can account for port displacement when you build the box. According to my calculations, the port will take up roughly .8-.9 cubic feet. I might be wrong, but it's something to work with.

Edit: I was wrong, it is .3 cubic feet.

I figured up it wil take up .30 cuft 3x3x3.14x18/1728???

Ya maybe I added an extra three in there. Hold up. You are correct sir. I got .3 cubic feet. ****, I just took a pre-cal exam and couldn't figure this out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

OK Einstein, how do you propose to change the width of the slot after an enclosure is already built and have it not look like ass?
its not that hard, just slide an extra board(s) the length of the slot and glue them on. may have to paint them before hand if the port is painted. besides that its not that hard.

Have someone else build it for you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

You could try to make the port longer, but there might be other reasons with the box won't extend lower, or even the sub. You'd have to reverse...
