Slavery Reparations?

this thread doesn't mention who should recieve and who should pay.
Overall, nobody really should be paying, maybe some government funds or something should be given to them, and then given to them in ways that it can be monitored on how it's spent, for example, give them college funds or things like that.

Also, who gets the money? I think Native Americans would deserve something before blacks, but blacks that can prove they had ancestors that were slaves should recieve something.

Also, about someone saying nobody could live a month in Africa? what are you talkin about? I lived there 4 months and travelled to several different spots of Africa, only 1 place was a place in poverty, every other place was good living and in some ways better than living in the US. Do you think all Blacks can afford to go back to these nicer African places and live there? maybe have a fund to allow them to go back?

and for people saying they never owned a slave, or the blacks have never been slaves that would recieve money.... think about this, if your ancestors did (and I know not all ancestors owned slaves) then think of your family's wealth, it was built on slaves labor. So if your ancestors got rich and owned slaves and used that as an advantage to get ahead, then remember the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.... these slaves families were let free as poor people and had to start from there.... and are more than likely still poor now.

But it can be looked at in many ways, I wouldn't want to pay or recieve reperations (I am part white and part blacks, what happens to guys like me? haha), but I am saying, put some money to help anyone poor out (blacks, whites, asians, Natives) and it will improve the world we live in... So things like college funds would be nice.

But I would say HELL NO to ever giving these people cash.

Not so much, what about the 14th and 5th amendments? The government directly failed to enact legislation to sufficiently end the injustices, but in some cases passed laws that perpetuated them!Due-process lawsuit easily.

A quick fix to that has been legal leverage for cases along these lines for awhile now. We're seeing it now more than we SHOULD have been seeing it in the past.

i think this is just people who are looking for an easy way out, or a chance at fast cash. much like many are. and no i dont think we should pay reperations... should they pay reperations for taking over our radio stations with there shitty music?

and speaking of reperations when do i get mine for paying so much in for fat *** lazy people to set on there ***'s and get lazy? i never will

Again, too many of you are confusing reparations with cutting checks. Direct payments are usually thought of as out of the question in any "grand scheme" of giving reparations

agreed. Which is why I said I would never give one of them anything.... but if they needed money for a college fund and looked like they were serious about turning their lives around.... I wouldnt feel so bad seeing them get money for that.

BTW, I'll be in Detroit in like 3 days haha... do I gotta watch my back there? is crime really as bad as I hear it is?

i agree with you there. look at most of the katrina victims they didnt spend there money from fema on there houses, instead they went out and bought vehicles and tv's.... what a waste.

OMG! again, direct payments is not really the issue, please leave that alone, any large reparations would involve programs, especially education for blacks, not giving them money.

yea but be careful. 8 mile isn't really where the shootings are, that's mostly drugs and ************. if you got a system don't bump it around there.

lets say me (being white) goes up for a job interview with a latino, black person, and a woman. who are they going to hire?
