Hypothetical question. Lets say I have a headunit and an amp that I have dialed in using a DD-1. The amp has a lot more power than I need for my current speakers. I bought the amp so I could grow into it. I'm assuming I use the gain on the amp to tame it down to match the power the speakers need to sound their best. How do I know where to set it? I have a DMM and know how to use it. Thanks in advance for any responses.

You actually want to set the gains by ear when it comes to speakers. You can use the DD-1 as a reference to know how far you can go but that's about it. It's more helpful for subs honestly.
