sitting in the woods

16 point? Damn!

I thought the 8 point I took (years ago) was all that.

Good one.

Wish I still hunted. Ground + pork fat = great chilli. And spaghetti, and whatever.

I hate sitting in the woods and not even seeing a deer. My dad and I went to our hunting lease in Miss sunday and checked some game cameras. All the picks where from 8-9:30pm....dam u full moon. So, we said to hell w/ hunting Monday.

I set my alarm and woke up at 5am monday. Hooked to my boat and got on the river by 5:45am. Ran up the Ouachita river to the mouth of little bayou (the HawHaw Bayou), and caught the bass hitting schools of shad. I set in 40ft of water and cast an 8-12ft Bandit Firetiger colored crankbait into the flats ~20ft deep.

I got the fishing hole ~6:15. By 7am, I had 7 spotted bass and 1 striped-hybrid bass in the live well.

Dam good morning of fishing.

i also found jungle descent rather comical. however i assumed you were white

i got excited over a doe today. it was my first time ever actually hunting so it was a different experience seeing that doe was interesting id love to have a big buck walk up on me

I got a six point at

Thing walked right to me. Almost didn't take the shot for lack of "sport". But then I remembered he was food.

My 8 point was @ ~40ft. He was in a hurry, but coming toward me (looked like he was spooked by something) he was jumping over a fallen tree when I took the shot.

Not too often you catch a deer at an angle like that. Only deer that didn't move after the shot.

ive yet to hit one considering today was my first day hunting. when they say you have to be completley still and silent they mean it lol
What surprised me is how quiet they are. Like ghosts.

It takes a while, but I always felt better once the smaller animals got "comfortable" around me. Birds, squirrels, even a turkeys would start just going about there business after a while, then I felt like I had a better chance of seeing a deer.

Friday, my family friend Minnor shot a 6pt. He thought he missed it, but my dad brought his dog out to the lease in Aimwell, La, and put it on the trial and they found it. No blood, just a dead deer. Blew there minds. Our ole' 3-legged dog found the deer in the thicket. The 6pt was only 40yrds off the cleared right-away, no blood, and it was hit w/ a 45-70 !!!! Lung/Heart shot @ 50yrds.

My quick little solo fishin trip Monday. Nothing big, but they all filet and eat the same.

Its primitive-weapon season here in my area of Louisiana now. Also, its a doe week.

When I got back to the house around 11am and my dad told me a man had been killed on the Sandy-Lake Reserve ~10miles north of his house that morning. The poor soul wasn't wearing an hunters-orange on the reserve and was shot with a 45-70/444 by a fellow hunter.

It was a sad day for hunters in our area.
