Sims 2 question

I have sims two with Night Life and Open For Business expansion packs. I was wondering about the Apartment Life exp pack.

Does anyone know if you can build apartment buildings and rent out apartments for cash on there? Kind of like the ticket machine in open for business where you charge per hour, but instead it charges per day or month or however. Or do you even pay rent in Apartment Life? I am reading up on EA's site and can't find anything.

They're still making new The Sims games?

Expansion packs. Yes they are still making them and kinda expensive for expansion packs requiring the original game as well. I think the Apartment life is like $30. You have to have the Sims 2 plus the expansion pack.
