SWINE FLU!!!!
i bought a simpletech 250gb external hd because it was on sale at bestbuy while i was there, and figured i might as well buy one now because i'd been thinking of getting an ehd for a while.

supposed to be plug and play but for some reason i can't find it under "my computer" when i hook it up.

can anyone help me? i don't really want to have to call their support number tomorrow...

Not being an *** here, but did you plug it in? It should have came with a power cord.

If it is powered up and plugged in, you need to check if the PC realizes its plugged in at all. To do this, do:

Start -> [Right Click] My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager

In this, look under "Disk Drives". If it isn't there, look for any yellow question marks in the list, it may just not be installing for some reason.

if your using your front usb ports dont try using the back ones. For some reason the front usb ports dont have as much power as the back
That's because front USB ports are connected via a cable on the motherboard, the rear USB ports are directly attached. However, I have never seen an external HDD that didn't have a power adapter, so it shouldn't actually draw power from USB anyway.
