Simple Voice Coil Clarification

Ok I keep trying to figure this out but I am not getting it the more I read the more it gets confusing.

On a DVC Sub, lets say a Dual 4. If you wire it Parallel does it drop back to 4 or to 2? What confuses me is that the sub is technically an 8 ohm load by itself? Then paralleling it should drop it to 4? Or is it per coil, each 4 goes to 2 and it is seen as a 2 ohm load? I'm basically trying to get a 2 ohm load out of my amp and I just need to know if I should look at DVC 2 or DVC 4 Subs. I am looking for it mono so I can't do a stereo 2 ohm load.

The load would be a 2ohm load

No, the sub is technically a dual voice coil, 4ohm/coil load by itself.

How you wire those two coils determines what the final impedance will be

Then paralleling it should drop it to 4?
No, paralleling two 4ohm voice coils = 2ohm final load

Or is it per coil, each 4 goes to 2 and it is seen as a 2 ohm load?
It's per coil.

And each 4 does not go to 2 (whatever that means). You have two 4ohm loads....wiring them in parallel results in a 2ohm final load.

The individual coil's impedances don't change. You still have two 4ohm coils. But wire them in parallel and you now have a single 2ohm load. Wire them in series and you have a final 8ohm load.

I'm basically trying to get a 2 ohm load out of my amp and I just need to know if I should look at DVC 2 or DVC 4 Subs. I am looking for it mono so I can't do a stereo 2 ohm load.

That depends on how many subs you are wanting to use. If you are wanting to use two subs, then you will need two DVC 2ohm/coil subwoofers. Wire the coils in series-parallel and you have a final 2ohm load:

If you are using a single subwoofer, then you will want a DVC 4ohm/coil sub and wire the coils in parallel:
