The real question is whether YOU can handle the sub being on that amp. With that amount of power, you would probably be able to toast it fairly quickly. If you're easy on the volume and gain, the sub will be fine. It's all up to you, not the amp.

yeah i realized this after i posted the question. thanks for the responses. i think i'll just stick with the 500/1 for now. there's a pretty good deal on an RE 12.1 on ebay right now btw...
