I've never owned a sub that has dual voice coils. What exactly does that mean and what are the advantages/disadvantages??? I've been considering purchasing a Diamond Audio 12" M6 that handles 800RMS and has dual voice coils... now PLEASE tell me... does that mean that I can send 800 watts through 2 channels to the same sub (2 routes, 1 for each coil), or does that mean that I can send 400x2 to the sub for a TOTAL of 800RMS?!?!?!

Please help me out with this... I'm looking to purchase the sub and a decent SQ amp for it very soon.

Many ThanX and Cheers

PS... while on the topic... what amp would you all suggest for this particular sub?

Well, all a DVC sub does is give you more wiring options. So, a DVC 4-ohm sub can be wired at 2 ohms, or at 8 ohms. This allows you to use more than one sub off an amp, or allows you to use class D amps and have a lower ohm load. One downfall is that sometimes you can't work out a proper ohm load for your amp.

umm, i was kiding who is evreyone i said to him cus he used caps alot like he was yelling. there is no need for you to make a issue out of absolutley nothing

Dang, that was fast guys. ThanX alot. What about an amp though... what would you recommend for a 12" Diamond M6? I've heard they require LOTS of CLEAN power to perform to their fullest. If it is power hungry, should I send it the full 800RMS or close to it? Or would something like 500RMS do the trick just fine?

THX Again!

500-600 would be just fine, what kinda enclosure you gonna put it in?

If you don't mind me asking... why put the port in it? I thought with SQ subs, small and sealed was the best route to take? I had a 12" Eclipse Alum in a 1ft sealed box and I loved it... just asking... I really have no idea about this stuff... still learning here.
