Side firing or back firing?

Building a 5.5 cu ft box and sticking it in my Acura Legend coupe trunk. lol don't ask it'll fit. well the front wall will be like 2 inches away from the very back of the trunk. should I still make the port facing backwards or should I make the port firing sideways into the side of the trunk?

usually u want back and want the same clarance as port opening so if you have 4" you want 4" from trunk wall to port or it can choke it. ive seen a few guys that have been doing side ports and doing high numbers but ive never done them this way.

hmm ok well my port is gonna be like 9.75 x 10 and i definetly don't have even 5 inches of clearance.

which ever sounds best
haha ok well i don't want to blow 200 bucks in MDF making 2 boxes when I'm not gonna keep one.

I can build a 5.5 cuft box with one sheet of mdf, 25$
2 boxes = 2 sheets = 50$

Where is the other 150 coming from?
where are you getting 3/4" mdf for 25 bucks?!?

and my dimensions are 12x35x36 and I worked out a cut sheet and I'm gonna need about 1.75 sheets per box. double baffle on the top piece.
