Shroud/Baffle around 6.5" speaker ok?

i plan on getting this shroud/baffle http://www.crutchfield.com/S-vuyaW3J5S2N/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=762&id=detailed_info&i=237XT652 to protect my 6.5" speakers from getting wet.

this baffle would sorround the the entire back portion of the speaker, creating like a mini foam box for the speaker. almost all 6.5" midrange/midbass speakers are designed to be open air/infinite baffle, would covering the back portion with a baffle/shround make the sound quality worse?

 
if i cut the bottom portion of the baffle, the top part should still be able to protect it from water right?
Unless the car is submerged in water, yes.

And if your car is submerged in water, the speaker getting wet should be the least of your worries.
