Shiva or SE

i've got a profile clarus 600m, (yeah yeah yeah, it sux) and i wanna get either a SE12 or a shiva, the SE would be gettin 450 watts from that amp but the shiva (since its dual 8) would only be gettin 300. What would be the differences in SQ and SPL between the 2? also how much room do those subs need from the bottom of the magnet to the bottom of the box, and what are the consequences of not having that room?

as far as i know the shiva costs 125...i could be wrong

as far as the box goes...i'm not totally sure on that one....if it's got a pole vent which both do, it would help cooling if you have room for air to flow down there....a couple inches should suffice, if it doesn't have a pole vent then i can't see a problem as long as you don't have the back pressed against the box, like .25 or .5 inches would do (remember i'm not totally sure, but that'd be my best guess)

ima try to keep it simple for u...shiva is cheaper along with most adire product in general. best bang for the buck for sure. the shiva tho however requires 2 cu ft each. i think thats sealed too..(long time since i looked at them) so if ur runnin 2 thats 4cuft....which could bring upon a space issue. shiva is def. sq based but se is also good sq and alot better spl. its actually a sq/spl based sub which many dont realize but the se jus costs 50 more. takes mroe power to run. and takes less space. im choosin the se myself for my application--which is in a sports car

1) Shiva doesn't need 2ft^3 per driver to perform.

2) RE recommends 1ft^3 per driver for an SE12 - I've tried a Shiva in 1ft^3 before, it was alright - not the best - performs better, in my opinion, in a larger enclosure.

Don't run your mouth unless you've actually heard both drivers in multiple settings to form any sort of conclusions, such as the ones you're drawing.

first, untouchable, does your shiva have the adire logo on the dustcap? and whoever else, fyi, i can get a used SE for the price of a new shiva, so unless i buy untouchable's shiva, price wont affect my decision. My box is very shallow, and the SE is almost 1" more mounting depth than the shiva, thats gonna be a main factor, how much space do i need from the back of the magnet? and when a sub's specs say "mounting depth" does that include the space from the back of the magnet or is that just the distance that will fit down into a box???

I've done installs with both and while I love shivas especially for the price I think se's are a far superior driver. Shivas have some of the best sound quality, but se's have enough for almost everyone. I would go w/ the se. If you want a good sound quality and loudness port it in 2.5 cubes or so and tune it low(28-30).

if u noticed smart a** i said it has been a long time since i looked at those. in any case the shivas(in most applications of course)- take more room. jus makin a simple point to help someone else out. sorry steve..jus my opinion that ses are better. not the only one who would think that also. but ill leave it up to u since ur the only one with an opinion that counts
