Shiva acting up

Im about to beat this sub to a pulpissed: . The stupid thing is acting all retarded.

I turn up the volume....nasty bass. No where near X max...whats the problem ???

The gain is on 1/2 and no bass boost on the amp.

It is under warranty (i hope) so i might send the rotter back.

Are you sure it's not the amp? Have you tried a different sub on that amp? Tried the Shiva on a different amp? Any chance the speaker wire or something is touching metal and causing funky stuff to happen? Stray strands touching other terminals or anything of the sort?

Ive used both MA Audio amps, same result

The gain isnt even at 1/2 its 1/4.

I doubt its some wire touching something it shouldnt be.

I'll have to check it on the 26th.

The other amps i have are not installed at the moment.

No way amp i putting the 4000D on it

hmmm. i still dont understand this b stock crap. according to adire there is no b stock shivas. you must have the hookup. anyway, does the bass sound bad or just when you pop the trunk and listen to it?

It just sounds bad all the time ( at higher volumes), its a hatch so you hear everything.

is it ported? If so what tuning....using ssf? Shivas do BAD w/o ssf in higher tuned ported boxes with such a loose suspension.

SSF set at 28

why not try a different box instead of 3 cubes with 9 square inches of port

Its not the box, i used my 15" sealed and it had the same sound.

I made a 12" ring insert

You may need some waranty work I know that tempests had some problems something w/ the spider i have no idea what....maybe the shiva has this problem.
