I love lamp.
Im selling my 97 chevy ex. cab (sucks too much gas), here is my question:

The blue book for a truck like mine (bone stock, no accessories) is about $6k, I have about 4k in accessories (rims, system, exhaust, etc etc etc). How much of the 4k do you usually get back? I was hoping to get about 7-8k for it, but who knows what will happen. Any help is appreciated!

Honestly I have never seen anything back in any of mine, in fact it usually means you are going to limit the people with interest in it depending on what needs they have.

For example someone who is going to use the truck on a farm or whatever is not going to want 24's on it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif (if you had them)

Your best bet is pulling off anything you can replace with stock and sell that outright and sell the truck stock.

What are specs on the truck btw?

specs are:

white, 97 chevy ex cab silverado

5.7L engine

automatic

150k miles (80% highway)

275/45/20 tires (approx 80-90% tread left)

20" motto rims

flowmastar 40 series exhaust (dumped)

clear diamond headlights/clear corners

k&n air filter

euro tail lights (still have stock tails)

black spray in bed liner

tinted all around (10% iirc)

suede door panel inserts

viper 771xv alarm/remote start

I'm also selling the system (if the buyer wants it):

Jensen 7" 9311ts in-dash dvd player

(2) pioneer premier 3000spl's

0/1 awg power wire

cdt cl-61a 6.5" comps

im taking the amps (orion 1200d and orion 3002) out of the truck.

The truck has a lot of miles on it, but the majority of them were highway, oil changed every 3k miles, easy driven (NEVER over 65-70)

Lol, sorry for the detailed specs

4WD? I've been looking for a nice Tahoe/Yukon, Silverado/Sierra, or Avalanche. If it's 4WD, throw some pics up. I probably won't be able to do anything before summer time, but it's worth a shot.

you wont get anything for add ons outside of maybe a little bit here and there for engine upgrades but only if the upgrades made the vehicle better and not just "faster", "louder" or too "custom" since most add ons are not necessity and are driver specific...the dealership wont go off the Blue Book, blue book is actually very useless and gives consumers too much of a false sense of their vehicles value because they give an average value as opposed to an exact value...Dealer lots and Insurance companies will always use their own valuation system to determine the value, in most cases they will use a custom NADA valuator which allows them to get ultra specific to that particular vehicle and is the most commonly used valuator.

without taking too much into account by way of adjustment (because I dont have all of the specifics), based on your area and how prevalent trucks are there, the miles and the basic package at an average condition you are looking at a trade in value of about $4500-5400 in and around 100 miles of Mcalester, OK on average.

I generally see people not getting anything back on the value for addons. Some, even though you put a lot of money into, will decrease the overall value, especially if the potential buyer has different personal tastes to what is "added" on then you do. Perhaps (example) someone buy's your truck, likes everything about it but the 20's, and wants some 16's and mud tires. To them, those rims are a must go, and are useless to the truck, therfore in their mind, bringing the value down to the buyer, and what they want to pay knowing they are going to change something.

As someone mentioned above, this may lead to only getting limited people intrested. Sometimes it is best to make it as much as stock as possible before selling.

Good luck selling!

Take everything you can off if you plan on trading it in. The dealer will not give you anything more for it, it actually will hurt the value. Sell it all seperate. Whe I traded my Murano in with custom paint and a body kit and all the audio equipment in it they were going to give me less than with all that stuff out.

Now if you plan on selling outright then you might be able to pull a little more. I'd say you might be able to get 7k for it selling it to someone.

Any suggestions for a luxury car around 6-8k? Pref 135k or less, over 20mpg, i'm also planning on putting about 2k in accessories in it.....I've been looking at the 96-99 bmw 3 series, anything else out there you guys can think of???

Grand Prix GTP? Supercharged, over 20mpg around town if you're nice to it, pretty quick, easy to mod, only downside is the stock front speakers are 5 1/4" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Not extremely "Luxury" but they can be had with leather/sunroof/power everything and are pretty cheap to maintain. I drove on for a few years although mine was a 4 door. They do come in coupe as well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Those are nice (the grand prix gtp), I think the bmw 3 series is going to be my choice, unless I find another car in the mean time. Does anyone have any info on these cars that might be helpful??
