Sedona or Art?

I'm debating which amp to go with to power a 15" PPI Flat Piston. Since it's a SVC 4 ohm, I need an amp to put out power at 4 ohm only. I have a Sedona 500ix, but have a Art Ax400 to power my fronts. Should I just use the Sedona or sell that and get a A600? Is there a noticable difference between Sedona and Art amps except the art on the top lol?

When PPI brought out the Sedona's they were the lower line of PPI. IMO, they still had a great sound to them, not quite as clean as the Art's but really weren't that much cheaper then the Art series and Pre-Art series, which the Sedona's resembled. I think it was more, that PPI was spending less on the Sedona's because of just usuing the older style covers and no fancy art work. I remember them being good solid amps and don't think there would be any problems usuing yours for the purpose intended on the Sub.

Regards Sonny

Well I got the Sedona for a very good price that its hard to let go. lol. I was thinkign that it won't make much difference using the Sedona on the sub but using somethign other than the Art Ax400 on the front stage would make a difference. Is that right?

I actually checked the retail prices fro m1995 from PPi and the Sedona is actually worth more than the A600. Weird.

Sedona, Art, and Power Pro series will be my setup....is that a good at all? I wanted to keep it all one series but PPI only made flat pistons.

i have an A600 that I`ll trade for the sedona or you can buy it from me for a reasonable price pm me.

I'd have to go with the Art due to personal preference, but honestly, I'm not so sure how much of a difference you would REALLY notice when using it as an amp for a sub.

I can get my hands on the following subs. What would you guys recommend if I went with either amp...

(1) 15" PPI Pro Flat Piston

(2) 15" AA Atlas

(2) 10w6v2

(1) 12" Avalanche

(1) 15" Fi Q

Maybe a Mag if I can get one for $350

or something else?

Dang, sure a lot of Old School PPI lovers on here:D ........I wish I had all of my old stuff back. I ran a A300 and a 4200, and then a A404 and A600 Art series. All of those amps kicked serious ***. I always ran the 4 channel amps bridged on 2 JL 10's and the 2 channel amps on my components....sounded pretty good in a standard cab Mazda pickup! I actually like them better then the Xtant's I replaced them with......It's good to see all the old PPI Lovers here.

What's not to love?!? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The Sedona were the closest thing PPI (the real deal pre DEI) made to an entry level amp. Similar design to the AM series but made with looser tolerance components. The big thing that that means is that while they would all make rated power, some examples might just barely make power while others might totally blow away their rating as compared to the AMs and later the Art series which you knew were going to make about 50% more than rated power into a 4 ohm load. Difference on a sub would be a little less power, possibly audibly so. The big one for me would be the amps would match if you went with the Art.

So the Art are massively underrated? If it is by 50%, does that mean that the A600 really produces close to 900w at 4ohms?

Having been a dealer for PPI back in the late 80's early 90's all I can say is that those amps were bullet proof and I ran an A600 on a pair of Lanzar LP12's (when Lanzar was Lanzar if you know what I mean) and it pounded the HELL out of those beasts with no problem and kept complete control no matter how hard I ran it.......excellent choice either way...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif :D //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I just landed my hands on a A600. Now I have both AVAILABLE in my hands. Is the choice obvious for the A600 or will both be same?
