I was one of the winners of the Second Skin Damplifier Pro Door Pack giveaway, and this is my review.
I've never used or considered using sound deadening. Theres really no audible rattling on the inside especially when music is playing. 2 18"s drowns out most of anything. I figured I'd throw this on the back hatch and see if I could get it to calm down a bit. This is my first time with deadening so I wasnt sure what to expect either.
My pack arrived today as I got home. It was well packaged and free of any damage. Shipping was quicker than I expected too. Inside the box was (8) 12x20in sheets. Me and my girl popped off the rear hatch in a couple minutes and I realized using full sheets would be impossible. The explorer rear hatch is like swiss cheese, with holes and connectors and uneven surfaces everywhere. I grabbed a pair of knives and we went to work on cutting small pieces and sticking them on. They self adhesive deadener worked amazingly. Simply peel off the paper and stick the black side onto the metal. We took time to make sure everything was firmly stuck down and nothing would come off later. You'll see in the pics that we got all the major areas covered but there is a little bit of area that we couldnt get. It took roughly an hour to get the hatch done. We put the trim back on and then realized some parts of deadener stuck out. I cut them off and used them under the cup holders. For ease of installation I would rate this a 10/10. It couldnt have been any simpler.
I took a drive and threw on some Cam. I could instantly here a musical difference. The bass sounded deeper and cleaner. Sharp bass notes were more focused with less of the noise coming from the car. I played music and walked around the car. The back hatch definitely feels and sounds more solid. There are a couple spots that need more attention but it was a noticeable improvement. I only used 2 out of 8 sheets on the hatch and I'm already impressed. A great product and I'm pleased with the results. My plan is to use the remainder to deaden the back of the cargo area.
