second interview..

So I had an interview on monday afternoon at the place i used to work at, but i was terminated. I went into the interview confident, and i actually ended up interviewing for helpdesk/ it support instead of data entry, which is like 5.00 more an hour. The interview went really well IMHO, i didn't think i would be that calm knowing that i messed up at this place once before. I went in, told the HR girl that I worked there before and what happened and so on. She also told me that they really need to fill the IT position this week, more then likely on thursday. the interview lasted about 45 minutes and she told me that she would be in touch with me.

Yesterday, I am sleeping and at 9:00AM my phone rings, it was the girl that interviewed me. she told me that the IT manager would like to meet me. So tomorrow morning, at 10 AM i have probably the biggest interview i've ever had. I'm not sure if you guys heard about wall street west, but its basically a project that involves migrating all of wall streets data, to an off site location. and the company that i have the interview with is responsible for their data migration, imaging, etc.

in my past experience, the second interview is usually the interview in which they offer you a position. When i had my 2nd interview with circuit city, best buy, Collection company, and another local IT service provider, I got the job.

What should I wear to this interview? and what kind of things can i do to really WOW the manager to ensure that I get this position. I wore a olive green polo with khaki pants to the first interview, i think im feeling shirt and tie for this one.

what do you guys think?

i used to work human resources and did hiring. just be clean and presentable. if the employees wear ties, then wear a tie, if it's casual be casual, but don't wear the same outfit you wore to the first interview //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

be on time but not too early, speak clearly, and fluantly, try to avoid umms and ahhs, and shit like that, don't try to strike up to much small talk or personal conversation cause that is just annoying, don't ramble, if you have to, pause for a second to collect your thoughts and give a coherent answer. if they ask your weakness tell them, but spin it around into a strength. like i had trouble staying on task but i do such and such now so it isn't a problem. more or less basic shit and don't act like an idiot

Not to break your hopes, however, especially in the IT industry where the HR rep knows nothing compared to the Admin, the second interview is just that...a second interview, so that the Manager/Admin can meet you and see what he thinks...

But go in there with that attitude and it will help you. It seems like you have it all figured out so I wish you the best of luck and it sounds like a really fun job. I miss the IT world...then again, I dont lol

I'm not sure what type of company this is, but hell, I'd wear a suit. Show up 15 minutes early and look confident. Also make sure you have multiple questions to ask him after the interview, write them down (In some sort of portfolio, not a crumbled up piece of paper) and just seem genuinely interested. You should be fine, good luck.

be consistent, drive in the ideas you already have, tell them that you like working at a place that is ran well and rewards you for your hard work. wear nice stuff, show them that you take this very very seriously. more often then not they're going to go back and compare you to everyone else. they want to see someone that sticks out. they want someone who sets good examples.

My advice is to wear one step above what you would wear on a normal day. If you would wear a button-up shirt, then wear a tie. If you are going to wear a tie everday, then wear a suit to the interview.

Stay with either blue or black for a suit, and a white shirt. Your tie should be predominantly a common color. Red, blue, etc. No purple, or pink. Your dress says you care about the job-- you want to show them you care as much, or more than the other people who are interviewing.

My advice remains the same:

Go in late, Forget dressing nice wear some jeans with more holes than jean, with an oil stained shirt. Also before you go slam a 40 of king cobra and carry the empty bottle in the room at with you will interview. Once you go to get introduced belch in his/her face before they get a chance to introduce them selfs. Then the job is yours no doubt

i've never had a second interview either... and i've never interviewed for a job that i didn't get.
oh, and be persistent, call back.
that never worked with me. i usually new during or right after the interview if i was going to hire the person. calling me while i'm doing my job was just annoying
