Second Alt really made a diff.

I just wanted to mention that I added a second 250amp D.R. alt. and am very pleased with the added voltage support. My system will now hold 14v @ 12-1500rpm when I beat on it kinda hard. Soon I will build a diff alt bracket to hold 2 alts where I put my second one. I used the spot where the factory a/c pump mounted, this is on a late 90's 5.7 Chevy Vortec. When I do the next bracket I will be running 3 high amp alts all together.

So if you are running a fairly large system deff consider extra Alts over batts if possible because that was the biggest gain I noticed over batts.

Not sure of all year 96-2000 5.0 5.7 vortecs but I think they all use a 1 wire setup. So yes I just ran the wire needed to the other adapter on the other alt, what was really cool too is that if either alt stops working the batt light comes on.

There is no interference that I can note. Russ

What did you have to modify in the wiring to run 2 alts? Ive always wondered if they interfere at all, though i run 2 with no issues. I basically just bridged the factory wiring to the other alt with another pigtail.

Really? I'm not sure I understand that comment. I guess I could run the stock 105amp alt, but then I would only be able to maintain voltage for my highs amp. I actually need about 4 alts on my ride. Russ

so you're saying having more available amperage is a good thing????? thats the craziest thing i've ever heard

This was about my alt mounting and voltage stability. But if your really wanting to know what gear, I run the best stuff I can afford, not tryin to be a smartazz but I didnt really intend for this to be a build thread. It was for informational purposes and I suppose my own opinion about what would work best for keeping voltage up, but apparently thats crazy lol. Russ

What gear you running? Don't like watching movies :\
