How does the Lotus Excel Reference Series compare with the CDT Eurosport 07 series or the Dynaudio System 340 Series? Im looking to upgrade to a high end set and these are my top 3 choices. Thanks for all input.

id suggest you go over to elitecaraudio.com

there are tons of reviews on the dyns 2way and 3way (I think the prevailing comment is very neutral, laid back, not a lot of midbass if that is your thing and they are a very old design--but still sweet

and seas reference ( if that is your choice get the reference not the perfomance--very detailed, some say the best midrange available--debatable, good midbass need to use the crossovers as they peak real nasty at 1800 and another point. the tweeters are cool I had a pair.-- not the easiest to install though)

and I already review'd the 07's, (but make a post over on soundomain as there are more people who have used them ) than over here--if you dont want to take my word for it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ive yet to hear one person who has owned they say anything less than spectacular overall

they all are expensive but Id do some SERIOUS research before you shell out the cash it will take to obtain some of these sets

you might want to add

budget, depth in your doors, 3 way or 2 way, how much power you have available, what kind of car etc etc

as every set will perform differently depending on the setup

happy hunting

Going to be a 2005 F-150 Crew. Budget will be around $700 give or take. 3-way front stage. Midbass in doors and custom kicks. Powered with a Diamond D7 506. 50 x 6 @ 4 ohms, 100 x 6 @ 2 ohms. Tuned with some EQT's and either a 6XS or the built in butterworth's.

I'm really leaning towards the CDT's as I can get a nice deal on them it seems like. The Seas will be a bit more. Not too much to pass them by though. I would really like the Dyn's but I can't find a solid price from an authorized dealer. I can get them for $750+shipping on eghey. But spending that much on a front stage, I would like to go authorized. So unless anyone has any ideas on a dealer on the Dyn's, I think it will either be Don for the CDT's or MobileSQ for the Sea's. Thanks for all the input. Also, pretty ghey too but I'm going to purchase this set without even hearing the winner or the competition. Everyone I know along with local dealers run with the JL, Diamond, MB Quart's, etc. So this upgrade will be based solely on your experiences and opinions of the considerations. Thanks again.

If you go with the 07's the mids are going to like around 150-250 watts

Thats what I keep hearing, cept, I can only give em 50 watts a piece since they are 4 ohm drivers and I only have 2 channels available for them. Everyone tells me 50 watts won't be enough. I may have to go with the 04's and tweets and then do some XXX mids or some other 2 ohm driver so I can pull 100 watts from the D7. I hate to mix and match tho. I hear the Seas will do well with 50 watts on the mids.

you could get DLS Iridiums from tplaya since he can get them for a sweet price, I hear they are niceand seem to have a fiarly shallow mount depth.

I would go with Lotus references above all these though, but DLS Over the performance.

But wait your opnly going to run 50 watts to them or are you going to bridge the amp?

the XXX mids will also be underpowered at only 100 watts since they like 200.

If your going to spend so much on the components you need a new amp, bottom line, unless you can bridge it somehow and still keep sterio.

I plan to run 50 watts to each of the 6 speakers. Shitt, I didn't realize the XXX's like 200 watts. Hmmm, I am def. not upgrading the amp as it took me this long to get the matching Diamond D7 set. The amps are more important to me than anything else in the system so I will work around them. Hmm, how will the Seas Ref's do with 50 watts on each? It's impossible for me to bridge them and keep them stereo.

Maybe I will scratch all these ideas and run me some ID v2 horns and some 7" mids. If I do that, I can give each horn 50 watts and then give each mid 200 watts. That will probably be the best idea with this amp.
