I personally think the aluminum domes are the way to go, if you heard both back to back you'd realize the high freq extension of the silk is faint in comparison.
However you need a decent amount of EQ to dial them in, as they are pretty bright - but the timbre quality is there.
Both are very nice tweeters, but the off axis is not as great as some others I'heard (mbq Q's, rainbow profi vanadium...) While the silk version is nice, I feel is a tad overpriced considering the Profi silk Cal26 tweeter can be had for substantially less and comparable-if not better off axis, smaller profile to install, terrific top end for a silk and not as 'spitty' if you need to boost EQ as opposed to the Lotus silk.
Basically, if you want a hard dome Lotus is hard to beat.
If you want silk, for me there is a more favorable option- but still a great tweeter.
I'm a silk guy, but after hearing both of these if I were to chose either Lotus for my needs- I'd tough it out with the aluminums,I feel they are that much better.
Interesting fact- Lotus in under development retool the silk.
