So, since genocide is slightly worse than slavery the slaveowners get a free pass? BTW, I am not even sure that genocide is that much worse than generations of slavery.

uhh ya know they paid for them tho wrong it would be to modern times like someone coming and takin their tractor just cause some ppl said it was wrong to have them but that doesnt make owning ppl right all im saying is ppl say there should be reprocussions on the owners just cause they owned em but there were many famous ppl who owned slaves like the pres at the time it was just the norm back then

To suggest that slavery was not contoversial in the 18th century demonstrates a complete misunderstanding of this country's history. From the time this country was founded the issue of slavery threatened the country's ability to survive. A strong argument can be made that because of slavery civil war was inevitable. It is certainly not like slavery only became repugnant in the 1860's.
