Sealing up doors

Will caulk be able to hold 1/4 MDF or plexi on the door over the holes? I dont want to screw anything in place because of the wires and power window motor may get in the way.

I've had cardboard on my doors for a year and a half now. It works fine.

The idea behind sealing up your door is two fold: make a more solid area for a mounting surface and seperate the front/rear waves. Now, for seperating waves it doesn't matter what you use; as long as it's not acoustically transparent.

The first reason isn't near a big deal as some would like to make it and the cardboard is much stronger than people think. Cardboard density and steel density are pretty dang close. IMO, the use of cardboard has such a benefit that it more than merits its use in this application.

I think Im going to give the cardboard idea a try. It seems to be the best option because its easy to work with, easy to get, and should work just as well as wire mesh. So What size width of cardboard should I use? I have some really thick stuff, that is quite hard to bend. And What should I do to prevent it from getting damp?

i put two layers on my outter door skin.. then a layer on the inner panel. coverd my holes with dyna plate. then put 2 layers on the outter panel where the door panel attaches to... completely seald off...

Get whatever you can that will work easily.

cover it up with a layer of deadener all around.

People who say that you shouldn't use cardboard due to moisture issues... why do they use MDF? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif deerrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
