SE vs L7

i have said this before in a different tread, the problem is all the kicker recomended L7 boxes are spl oriented. i have heard a L7 in a sq box and it was a different beast. clean and quick and still loud as hell.

alright. I just kind of skimmed the whole thing and saw people throwing in info about the SX. I will read a little more thoroughly next time.

but to add my experience with l7s is they get hella loud while sounding like fecal matter. But the set up i heard was in a factory kicker box which is probably the reason why.

Buddy of mine has 2 15l7s in a sealed box but i have yet to hear them

Have you even owned any of the subs we are discussing? Because I've owned all 3......

SX > SE > L7

custom built enclosures (followed manufacturer's specs)

I had the L7 in a ported enclosure as well as sealed, didnt like it at all. Sloppy and not musical at all.

Perhap the newer models are better?

im going for ear shattering loud though, so i think the L7 would destroy the sx and se.

I would definitely have to say the exact opposite of that. But that's just me I guess.

SE sounded good but not loud at all, SX was louder but not loud enough and sounded terrible doing it. The L7 was louder than both of those and definitely had a different sound to it.

But since the OP was asking about the L7 vs. the SE, there's really no point to keep talking about the SX. It's not even part of the comparison.

I know you didn't bring it up, but you mentioned it again when there was no need to.

I agree that the SE would probably sound the best, but the OP was also looking for the loudest speaker. So basing your ranking off of SQ performance isn't logical either.
