Hey guys kind of in a dilemma and wanted some help choosing a sub...

Should I go with a single 12 SDC2.5 or a SA-12? Sub is gonna be powered by a AQ1200D @ 2 ohms and in a 2.3^3 @ 31hz. ( I like lows =] )

I've had 2 10 SDC2.5s and loved them but traded them for some money... and kind of miss the bass those subs put out.

Spider is starting to making a scratching noise. Got it in the trade for the 10's. Im putting 850 rms to it but have the gains set to where it doesn't clip. (I'm just going off of the clip light from my Phoenix Gold PLD-1 Line driver... And for some reason, it doesn't hit the lows too well even though the box is tuned to 31hz.

And it seems like it isn't a sonance v1 or it's a hybrid, because the guy I got it from said that the guy he bought it from reconed it and was kind of sketchy about it... so idk

That's a surprise. The Sonance I had loved the lows. I had it off of ~650WRMS, 2.1^3Ft @ 33.

if the AQ sub will handle the power, go with it. its cheaper and i highly doubt the sundown will be noticeably louder being same cone area, same power, same box, or have better sq

IMHO aq will be slightly louder up higher. Sa will go lower and be a bit louder down low. Sa will be more musical. Aq will be more spl oriented. So it just depends what you like. There is not a lot of love for the aq when it comes to sounding good. There is quite a bit for it's spl ability for the price.

Or if it will fit, drop a SA-12 recone in the Sonance //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
I don't really have any clue how to recone, so I won't waste my time doing it.. haha

Im a fan of matching equipment so I would say get the aq but again that is just based on me liking matching equipment nothing else

I found the SA-12 on ebay from woofers-etc for only 195 shipped... And the AQ is 139 + 25 shipping so the price difference isn't that big

In our testing bugflipper is correct -- the SDC will meter better up high (50+ HZ) and the SA will do better below that. The SA also has a significant thermal advantage.
that's what i want! the LOWS!!! haha

for low bass get a sa 12.your box not good for a sdc.
I beg to differ.... I had my 2 10's tuned to about 32 hz and they sounded GREAT!

Just wondering why not compare two subs of similar price points? Or at least an idea on your available budget.
Like stated already, found the SA-12 for $195 shipped and the SDC-12 is $165 shipped.
