SD5000.1D Am I stupid to buy the 2ohm model? Or wire to .5?

I basically want to buy an SD 500.1D from Sound Digital

I have 2 18's that are D2. SO I can wire to .5 or 2 ohm

They offer the amp in 1 ohm and 2 ohm models.

Would you guys wire to .5 and hope it doesnt protect and you can maintain voltage??

Or buy the 2 ohm model and wire to 2 ohm and hope I still get some power after imp rise...?

This is a daily driver, just want to bang heads and shake hair.

Box is 17 cubes for the 2 18's with a huge port...

I think you would get enough rise to keep it safe wired at .5 on the 1ohm version.

Maybe ask the tech dept. (or whatever) over at sound digital.

Get the 2 ohm model and run at 2 ohms -- they are high voltage amps, that is what they are best at.
