SD+XMAX= volume displacment ....so then

whats more important

say i have a 12'' sub that has xmax of 13.4 mm

versus a 10 that has say 30 mm of xmax.

looking up volume displacement which one would win?

what im looking for here is a clear answer which is more vital...cone area or xmax when it comes it moving air...no need to flame etc and so on its a good noob question.

thanks in advance

there's no way to predict that... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

linear displacement ability in reference to SPL competition means nothing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

More parameters are needed.

Unless it is sealed or IB, total linear displacement capeability is only a small part in the equasion of loud. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

and only in a distortion limited test..

you can have woofers with relatively limited linear displacements,be louder due to overshoot.. if a distortion limit isn't used..
