Scammed!!

If he sent the money through paypal, he can file a dispute with paypal. I bought an item off ebay that wasn't listed. The guy never sent it... so i filed a paypal dispute. He ended up sending it out a month later. If you file a paypal dispute it will shut there account down until it is resolved. Thats all he has. Hope it works out.

well he will obviously do that.....but since he only has emails with talk of the transaction, and the ebay id of the seller, he has not much more proof.....
is this enough?
he paid and recieved nothing. that is enough to at least put the break son the account make sure he dosent just do the warning one, but files a claim. he will understand when going through paypal i forget the termonology.

If he paid with a CC he can have his CC company refuse payment so he wont be out anything.

To handle a dispute when bank funds were used through PayPal is the procedure the other guys have already outlined.

i did....in all honestly tho since its not through ebay...i cant see them helping him out... and what proof is emails and a ebay id? i dont understand how they can shut down a paypal acct with just emails as proof

even if he files a dispute it's hard to make paypal really work in his favor if this dude is smart. if he's smart he got your friends $ and closed the account the next day knowing he was going to scam him. if your friend is lucky, he'll put on a complaint with paypal freeze the scammer's account and maybe get what he ordered. remember paypal doesn't gaurantee that you get exactly the condition you "think" the item should be in.

^^

thats exactly what i mean. How would they know that he even shipped it to him and he got it. He could just lie and say that he didnt get it and then he would be the scammer lol....

there is no way for them to proe any of this ....not even shipping confirmation could prove this

agreed at least try. but when or if it doesn't work and he tries to file with paypal they'll tell you what they've told me(even though the end result was in my favor) that "here at paypal we are not an escrow service so we place no gaurantee on items being received in the manner they were presented." or some bullsh*t like that.

This is what he needs to do if he realy wants his money back.

1) he needs to know how to convince someone on the other end of a phone that does not give a shit about him to help him out. either his bank or his cc or paypal...

OR

2)he needs to say he noticed a charge on his card or account that he did not place. and he needs to stay firm and go thru the easy process of having the money returned.. it may involve cancelling the card. and he needs to know how to bullshit and stay with a lie or hes gonna end up in real trouble.

only options if paypal will not refund your money after you have escalated the claim.
