Safe to listen to test tones cd's after setting gain?

Lets say i have set my gains using 45Hz 0dB for my sub and the HU volume was at 45. It means i can listen to this test tone cd at a Hu volume of 45 with no problems right? I wanted to do this so i can compare the cone excursion when listening to test tone cd and ordinary music, cz i am not satisfied at all now or maybe my cd music is recorded at - infinity dB

I wouldn't play it for an infinte amount of time. But as long as the amplifier isn't clipping, and your sub can thermally handle the power....yes, you should be okay for a while.

Ouf Squeak, well i just wanna take my two clarion xw-1500 and throw them man I have set my gains and i am pushing 500w rms into them, they can handle 600rms and the output is so ****ing poor. If i set them by ear, as soon as i increase the gain they start rattling. Me and the installer today tried another sub, its a clarion 15" SVC and 300rms, mine are 15" DVC and 600rms, the lil SVC was way much powerfull and no rattling, also the excursion of the cone in the SVC was way much more than mine, and it didnt even rattle:S so what the hell is hapening?, i dunno:S thx

Is it possible that they are rateling cz in the specs they advised me to build a 2.4ft^3 sealed enclosure and mine is 3.3ft^3? but what i dont understand, is how this SVC sub that we tried was much better, muchhh cheaper, and supposed to be way less powerfull than mine, and also it didnt rattle:S I tested the ohms of my coils, they are not blown
