Okay found a place to install my HO alt, but they want to charge me a hundred EXTRA dollars to frickin hook up the power and negative wire. I'm going to be a work but my mom will bring\ pick up my vehicle so I won't have the chance to be there for the install. The shop is approximately 5 miles(to and from) from her house. Here's the questions....

1. Is it okay if they hook up my 250a HO Mechman alt with NO upgraded cables for the five mile trip back and I hook them up when I get off work, :confused:or will they burn up something?

2. (kinda off topic) I have a stinger voltage display and lately (about a week) it's been reading between 14.7 and slowly it's been dropping today it was 14.1. I disconnect my kinetik battery and the voltage shoots up to 14.5 -14.6. Does that mean the battery is bad? The battery is about 4 years old.

lol that's why i really need to know if my car will be safe it's only 5 miles, but I don't know how long it takes to screw up anything. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

It'll be fine. The alt puts out no more than is drawn from it. So it's not the alt that burns the wire in truth, it's passing 250amps though that wire. As long as you aren't going crazy on the stereo it'll be fine.

lol thanks for the answer actually it's a pain in the *** but every time I bring my car to a shop I take out my system. So no real draw except from the kicker amp lol which my mom won't turn up my radio anyway.

Believe me I TRIED! Last weekend i **** near took apart my front end trying to install that **** alt. It's buried under the engine, with the a/c compressor right under it and the radiator fans like 2-3 inches from the alt.

lol I guess, is that even legal? To be honest I was just so happy it wasn't expensive as hell I didn't even catch that.
