SA-12 D2 power options

So i have a Sundown SA-12 and im kind of hesitant on what to give it. Its in a 1.75c ported enclosure and i would be using a Rockford t1000 to power it. So here is my question. Should i feed it 1 ohm (1500 watts) or 4 ohms (850 watts). I have a kinetik hc2000 so im not worried about the power being too much im just worried for the subwoofer itself. Can it take that much power? i dont really have the money to go spend 200+ on another sub if i blow this one. Please give me your feed back! thank you.

which rockford is it? exact number, although people give sundowns double the rms they usually arent constant power amps. id start at 800w first then ifyou want more go ahead and raise the gains. just make sure you dont clip.

Just make sure you aren't clipping an feed it 1,000-1,200 watts at 1 ohm. This should give you clipping head room as well. I know I plan on running mine at 1200 watts this summer for a while.
how do i make sure it doesnt clip? just by keeping my gains low?

Ideally it would be done via OScope, but I doubt you have one handy. Therefore, as long as your music isn't clipped all to hell, you have your head unit volume set appropriately, and your gains set for 1,200 watts on a proven 1,500+ watt amp then you shouldn't be clipping. You can also listen to it when you've set it and make sure there isn't distortion. What head unit do you have?
