Running the Power Wire

I noticed the prior owner of my car ran a 8 gauge wire from the stock distribution block under the hood to the fuse holder then to his amp.

I'm replacing his wiring with 4 gauge but not sure if I should use the same connection point at the power distribution block under the hood, or run it directly from the battery ?

Direct from the battery.

Increasing the draw (since you're going to larger guage wire) might not be safe to run from the stock distribution block.

Also, be sure to fuse the 4ga within 18" from the battery terminal to prevent any possible short from causing a fire.
