Runnin an amp off a charger

I gotta question. i was wonderin if its possible to run my sound system with the car radio off a battrey charger. OR if this isn't possible then instead of runnin the system straight from the battery charger then can i run the battery charger to my power cap and from there to the sound system. Oh yeah im tryin to do this in my house which is why I haven't suggested using a car battery instead of a power cap.

Yes, you can but you have to check the amp rating on the charger (which will be low) and your system - which will be high. The charger is a like a power supply that is used in shops to run their display.

The cap will do nothing but stabilze any voltage spikes, adding a car battery would be ok if sealed, otherwise you may make yourself sick from the fumes if in a house.

technically it will work, but i can almost guarantee noise through your system [buzzing and whatnot] and i dont know how long your charger will last lol

you are better off eaither buying home audio equipment, a AC-DC converter with enough amperage, or boshing somthing together.

Try something like this. The link to buy one from the place I 'borrowed' that picture from can be found here. I have that model on my test bench for checking radios,amps, and whatnot. It will provide over 40 amperes of current constant whereas most battery chargers give like 10-12 amperes on high charge. That's enough to run a head unit and that'd be about it - and like req said...most likely it will have an unbearable amount of unwanted noise in it during operation. Drop an amplifier onto it and *click!* If there's not some kind of overload protection built into the charger most likely it will lead to an unhappy conclusion.

Something that always struck me as odd - I wouldn't buy any Pyramid audio gear on a bet. I wouldn't buy any other kind of power supply. *shrug*

A battery charger is such dirty power that you'd have the worst noises coming out of that amp.
