16v batts charge at 18.5v so that is what you need to verify for. Unfortunately I don't know without searching if they will take over 16v

that is their resting voltage, just as a 12v batt rests at 12.7 but charges at 14.4 a 16 volt bat rests at 16.5+ and charges ~2.5v above that

If you are running 16v you also want a seperate alt or something to run your stock electrical. Your stock electrical will fry on 18.5v

yes, I assumed he knew that.

a seperate alt, or a single alt and some voltage reducers like the XS993 993 « XS Power

amps are different from voltage. You need to charge at 18+ volts.

I would tell you to do a lot more research before yo uthink about doing a 16v system

this either dual alts or step down modules, and a 16v alt i have even used the kinetic 16v dual post as starter bats with good luck in the past as they act like an automatic step down.

i agree but i havent had a problem with using one to hold me over till i get dual alts step down modules dont usually give me enough juice 30amps isnt enough for some electronic dependent cars

You can run 14 volt an most stock electrical will be fine. May be a happy medium for you

you can run more than one step down at a time, typically 3 is enough to deal with any cars electrical needs.

Unless you are into competing, running anything over 15.0v for a daily isn't terribly necessary. If you want to run a higher setup you can run a 14v system where your alt charges at 16v and your batteries rest around 14, but unfortunately there are very few 14v batteries on the market.
