rubber vs foam surround?

whats the difference between foam and rubber sourround material? Is one better, or does each one have their pros and cons, and if so, could u tell me what they are?

2nd, is a lower, higher, or wider frequency response better and for what reason?

EX: 30-150 or 20-200

But now how many surrounds nowadays are a standard foam? Most of them are a blend or treated in some way. A mid to high quality sub with a foam surround will not have any problems with that.

Rubber is more resistant to a car environment, but it affects the subwoofer performance when temperature changes.

The colder it is, the rubber will be stiffer, where as foam will stay generally constant.

Yea, my TC7 10 sounds so crappy at first when it's cold. The combination of a metal cone and rubber surround = uber stiff suspension and crappy low bass before it gets warmed up.

I wont even bother with cheap foam surround subs.....

however some subs have what looks to be foam but is really a

manmade composite that looks like foam.....

But I prefer Butyl
