I just started doing bracing cutouts today with a router and flush trim bit with scraps clamped to the underside of the board as a guide. This has worked suprisingly better than I thought it would but I still had a few ****ups where the clamped pieces shifted.
I imagine this process would be much simpler/quicker with a precut template piece and a router table. I was curious though as to how one attaches the template to the workpiece? I don't really want to marr the piece with screws, and have never used a router table, but they seem relatively cheap.
