Thats right bishes...
Got a router, and the wired ports work great, but for some reason the wireless connection is extremely low and it will disconnect within a few seconds of getting on it, then connect again and repeat over and over. Signal strength is never better then 11.0 and is "low." Its a linksys BEFW11S4 and i have tried doing all the settings but just cant figure out what im doing wrong. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

check your computer is running 802.11b/g

the only thing i can think is to try connecting another computer to the wireless and see what the connect speed is, and if that computer works, start with an uninstall/reinstall or update of the wireless driver on your computer

well i just dont understand why it will connect and then just disconnect, and also why its at such a low speed, i can see the router from the comp, ive turned off all the cordless phones, and it only recognizes the wireless router SOMETIMES, there has to be a setting, i mean there is like 100 different things in the setup, i just dont know what im doing or what they mean. IS there a setting that would make it slow connection?

Your house plays a big part in that. The material its made of can really kill a signal sometimes. I picked up a signal across the street better than i did from my own living room, simply because my computer room has windows that the signal can travel through, but the walls stopped the signal from he livingroom.

on your unit specifically, i do not know! on mine, there are, i believe, 9 mini switches that i never messed with. The install was simple, hook it up and setup security, then connect. did you try the uninstall/update yet?

It is visible from the computer and no more then 20 ft away. Like as im sitting here wired to it, i can see the bastard blinking...

Ya this thing has all kinds of settings in the setup area, i just have no idea what im looking for, and the manual is all mumbo-jumbo to me.

I didnt really "install" it other then setting up the network and plugging it in so im not really sure how to uninstall it other then just deleting the network. I did update and i guess it installed it, but that did not help.

#1. be sure you have the driver for the wireless card

#2. right mouse click on my computer and go to manage

#3. in the left column click on device manager

#4. find your wireless controller on the list

#5. uninstall the wireless driver

#6. reinstall with either the cd or plug in wired connection and allow it to search for the appropriate driver

i dont have a wireless controller, but i do have a network adapters, and thats where the belkin wireless card for the compter is located, is taht what i should remove?
