I just got a router for xmas, my dad gave me his that i didnt know he had, or i would of asked him a LONG time ago //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif its a Skil 1 3/4hp with some bits, heres a pic of the bits... can anyone identify whether or not i have a straight, roundover, and flush trim?

im thinking the 5th from the left is the straight cut, and the last one all the way to the right is a roundover?.., but not 100% sure. havent used it yet

you're right on the roundover. you have 2 flush trim bits (the straight ones with guide wheels on it). unfortunately, your flush trim bits appear too small for 3/4 inch wood. you may need to get a larger one. a 1 inch flush trim should do anything you need it to.

The second and fourth bits from the left are also roundover bits.. If you look at the tip of them you'll see what I mean about some of them not having bearings.

Without bearings, it's easier to get stuck in one spot and make an uneven edge. Been there done that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I tend to use 1/4" cut width ( most premade circle jigs are calibrated for 1/4" bit) , and 1" long for the straight and flush trim bits. If your building a lot of double walled boxes then you may want a longer flush trim bit. I have an assortment of roundovers from 1/8" up to 1 3/4". //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
This man knows what he is talking about. Whiteside router bits are the bomb. Just started using them within the last 3 months, and will probably never use anything else again.

1" roundover //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
way too big if you use screws

3/8 on the roundover and 1/2 on the flush trim worked well for me.

a rabbet bit also for flush mounting things like aeros and smaller drivers....

youre right.

theres 2 smaller roundovers w/o the bearing, but i wouldnt use them.

they will burn most woods...

All the bits I have are craftsmen. So I guess I will stick with the Spiral bit I have and get these Whiteside bits. Wow more money to be spent here I come. Any other place to find these bits maybe at a lower cost?

I guess its true when they say to do the job right it cost a good amount of money to keep it safe and smooth.
