hey guys

i need some help and tips, i'm going to convert my trunk into a nice looking system. this is the first time doing anything like this, so i'm really not sure where to start. some questions though....

i am going to strip my trunk and dynamat it. i plan to pretty much make everything myself, out of mdf wood. i plan on having a box for sub, show off three amps, show off crossovers and mabye a cap (yeah, complete trunk transformation //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ). so basically, everything is going into a little area which i will have to build myself....should i just build the floor, box, and holding areas (to show off amps, i have no clue what they're called) and just place them straight in the trunk (dynamat covered metal), or should i put my oem covers back on, and then place all that stuff on the covers?

i hope this makes sense, its hard to explain in writing

all help appreciated //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

yea. basically just build it outta wood, then screw it together.

start with a new floor. bolt that down somehow (DONT SCREW ANYTHING INTO YOUR GASTANK!!! ive read some bad stories) then just build everything else... and a false floor, with holes a litttle smaller than your amp - and your amp placed underneath the hole looks fantastic.

there was a great project log of a VW golf on http://www.cardomain.com - check for cars with "OVERALL INTERIOR RATING" and your bound to get some good ideas.

i couldnt find the one i wanted, but those should get ya started.

Try to keep things simple and organized. Only use what you need to use, like you said maybe a cap, naw, dont get one. A clean install is the best.

good luck

haha, yeah, i know what you mean, and believe me, i'm TRYING to keep it clean....but unfortunately, i'm just too addicted to my car, and something inside me forces me to go all out on every mod i do (is this dangerous?). we'll see though, i definately want a clean look, over an insane look....actually, i probably want a good blend of the both.

how would i go about bolting the wood down?? straight into the metal?? screw or bolt?

also, do you have any pics of how you described setting up the amp?
