rockford fosgate subwoofers

First of all, you need to consider if you want to hear the voices and the musical part of your system. The Power HX2's are for serious SPL. You could actually run one in a ported box with a bd500.1, they are more forgiving than the regular HX2's. Back to hearing the voices and musical part. If you are going to put something that big in there, you better consider upgrading to better speakers. More than likely you will need 2 sets of tweets, a set of 5 1/4 and probably some 6 1/2 midbass speakers. As you can see doing the setup you want is going to cost you some money. If you want something that just pounds good, and you don't want to spend a whole lot of money, look into any of the other series of fosgate except punch Z. I know from experience that all of these subs work well in ported boxes. Anyway, you really need to think about what you are talking about before you do it, the Power series are nice, but are you really wanting to spend all that money making it right? Another thing, go for the square port, it doesn't cause as much air turbulence, it will sound better, just make sure you get it done right and tuned at the right frequency. There will be a sheet in the box for the sub that tells you how to do it, and you better brace the hell out of the box or either double up on the MDF. For the power series I recommend 2 layers of 3/4" MDF, you don't want the box to explode, and you better get some dynamat, that trunk will blow off

i had it set up before, at a spec sealed box, of 1 ft/\3, and it was loud, but not wut i expected, as for my mids, i dont have major stuff but i have a pair of jbl power 6x9, running of 100watts each, and a pair of infinity 4" in the fornt, powered by the clarion reciever. I wanted to upgrade my mids and high anyways, so i figured i would upgrade them according to the bass that the power would give me, also, migh tbe getting another one t0o. maybe, depends on how this one sounds in the 4 ft/\3 box.

As for the ports, leaning towards a slot port, 8"x4" and around 8" deep, tuned to 40hz. Sound g0od
