Rockford Fosgate Punch 201s Low Gain+Distortion

Hi guys,

I recently received a Punch 201s from a friend who had it sitting in his garage for a year and I've been trying to get it working. Right now, it has a crunchy, highly distorted sound at very minimal gain. I have it set up on a test bench with a 14.4v Radio Shack power supply. My firs thought was the power supply, but trying another Boss amplifier with the same wiring and speaker sounded perfect. Not sure what to check first and was hoping for some advice from the experts.
