RL-P 15 question

ok, first off i just built up my system based on using a 15" ascendant atlas. i bought a kicker 300.2 amp(puts out around 350@4ohms) and i built a 5cube box @29Hz. i was very happy with the system, but the sub blew 45minutes after i installed it. and now im stuck with a big ass box/only 350watts of power.

i was going to just get the atlas reconed, but it'll end up costing more than i payed for it originally(including shipping and what not) so im considering picking up a dual 2ohm RL-P 15"

my question is, how will the rl-p work in my box? i just built the **** thing and would really like to continue using it. it has 50Sq in. port area aswell. keep in mind that for now ive only got 350watts to power the rl-p. right now the box is 36x22x16. if i had to could i shorten the length of it(from 36") to make it under 5cubes without messing with the tuning?

ive got plenty of pics of the box on the sound illusions forum:

thanks for all the help, i appreciate it.

you can hack off part of the box or you can dash a lot of crap in there (glue some wood somewhere), but then the tuning will be off because of the change in displacement.

so itll be hard to calculate and modify all of that, but drop the RL-p into it and try it out. should sound pretty descent.

as for power, id look into giving it more power.

ill eventually upgrade my amp to around 600watts or so, but im out 130bucks from the atlas blowing so im just trying to get a sub for now. i read on some other forums that the rl-p's will do pretty decent of of 300-400watts. not as loud as with more of course, but they'll still move a good amount of air...

on a side note, anyone whant to buy a blown atlas 15" its 100%perfect as far as cosmetics go, just has blown coils.

yea, it will work out with that power, it is a fairly effecient driver.

that along with a large box will make this a fairly descent setup.

when you get more power later on, it'll get really loud.
