What is the reputation of the SoundSplinter RL-p 12" D4 ?? Is this just a SPL sub or is it a clean sub as well? Not familiar with the brand or their speakers, thats all. Did some research and found that it is a very well liked sub that has a lot of output and is very clean at the same time. My other question, is the MCD500 enough power for that sub?

MCD500 = 500watts x 1 @ 2 ohms. Called memphis and they told me its underrated and does a little over 600, and with a solid 14.4v it will do about 700.

Is this amp enough for this sub??

i have 2 running off about 800 wrms a peice and i like them. very loud sub compared to my old rockfords and to me sound very crisp and clean. i can only compare them to budget subs that i have hear but to me, these are by far the best sub i have ever owned

i've owned them...and they are very good subs...

but i think for the money you can get something better...

sure mikes customer service is A1, quality is great, sq is excellent...

imo output was very good but for that price you might be able to get something better for the money...

i'd give them ~700-1K if you get them...

don't get me wrong, you'll like them...but then you might wonder in the future if you coulda gotten something better for the price...

i haven't tried the Fi Q's yet but they are about the same price and the boner on them right now is worth looking at...

I will actually be running a 1.30 cubic ft sealed enclosure. The amp says 500 but I was told by memphis that it actually runs about 600-640 watts RMS. So you think the amp and the enclosure will be allright for them?

According to the Soundsplinter website, the RL-p will reach full excursion in most applications woth between 600-700 watts.

No idea why they don't post an actual rms figure in the specs for the RL-p though

it won't have the output as a ported box of course, but it should sound very nice. you might wanna consider going bigger on the box or use polyfill

Well I allready have the brand new sealed box. And also have the amp picked out which is rated at 500watts but memphis told me actually does a little over 600. I'm looking for a sub that is clean but at the same time has good output. So if you guys dont think this sub will be good with the power I intend to give it, and the box I will be putting it in....I definately want to know. If that is the case, the what would you guys reccomend??

rl-p>d6 IMO. yes i've heard both, although in different setups. rl-p never was intended to be an spl sub. they sound great, and can get plenty loud for most people. i loved my 12's, and may have bought a pair of the 15's if fi hadn't come along.

The RL-p's are definitely nice subs. I still vote for the D6 given his particular circumstance. Diamond is known for SQ as a company, and the D6 can be had new for about $100 less than the RL-p.

That's just my $.02

mine sound pretty good in 1.5 cubic ft. sealed. 1.25 is probably best. rl-p > d6, i have owned 2 12" D6's before. I like the Rl-p's SQ better and got more output from it.

Well then...it looks like I will go with the RL-P 12" and put it in my sealed box. My only other question is....Is the power I intend on feeding it enough? I know your never supposed to underpower a sub. The amp I was looking at is 500w RMS (company says its underrated and actually does a little over 600).
