Here is a thought. I have an IDQ10 that I have never been real satisfied with (output wise). I might just be willing to ship it out and let you guys test it.
If he likes it, make me an offer. If he does not, just ship it back it one piece.

try porting it.

As far as voice coil configurations what would i be better off going with? Is there any difference between going with a single 4 ohm VC or a dual 2 ohm VC if im going to wire it to 4 ohms?

You're going to want the single 4ohm coil or dual 2ohm. Since you are using 2 channels of the PPI amp, bridging the channels at 4ohms is your only option.

That would be awesome. How long have you had it for and what has it been running off? What sort of box have you had it in?

Where do you live too? Any idea what it would be to ship it out?

Jntar, how would we test the two against each other? (Enclosure wise)

I have had it for about 1 year. It is being run off of a JBL 300.4 which is 123 RMS per channel, so whatever that comes to with the rear channels bridged I really do not remember. No idea what shipping would be from MS.

Shipping shouldnt be more then $15.

For the test I figured we could use your amp in your car, with the manufactures recomended ported and sealed specs.

Then we can use one of my amps to get the max RMS that the sub is rated for. That way I can see which I like better.

I'm excited to see how this plays out. My guess is that the IDQ might do better with the amount of power I have to throw at it but the RL-i 8" might do better with a little more power...

some people are putting about 500 to it,

 

I was going to be brave and try 1200 for a short time, but until then I need to build that TL box for the RL-i and put the 250a2 on it.

I had my IDQ10 bridged to the bigger Aura RPM 2 channel amp. Probably putting out about 450 watts to it and it melted the positive wire connection on the subwoofer. It sounded very nice nice for about 2 weeks until it just gave up. LOL
