Relocating Ignition Cylinder. HELP

Do you actually want to have both a key and a push button? It's possible to completely remove the key functionality, but some people want to keep it for security reasons.

what ring are you talking about? I dont know of any type of ring that senses the chip inside the key
there is a small ring that works on inductance and when voltage is applied to it, it senses the frequency of the small transponder chip inside of your key. The frequency on your chip acts as a code and travels on the intermediate frequency down to the decoder box under the dash, if the frequency is correct it allows the starter relay to operate.

Also, I would buy a factory style one and make sure you get the relays that go with it.

why in god's name would you remove the key?
Major security risk.
There are other ways to protect a car. Although in his case I would say keep the key just hide it because it sounds like it would be a pain in the *** to get it work without one.

I would like to eventually have my car keyless.

No handles or keyholes on the outside of the car, just poppers with the remote. And for the starter have just a push button which will not do anything unless a relay is triggered, which can only be activated by the remote. Or something like that...it's just an idea and I definitely can't afford to do it for a while so...heh

It would at least confuse the crap out of anybody attempting to steal the car.

getting into a car without door handles and all that with no key is not really possible in the realm of practicality. Your battery dies you're screwed haha. Anyways, yea, got to keep the key thats security in itself, its literally impossible to steal the car without the key unless you're doin some serious code hoping and have some special tools to code a key while you're sitting in my car.

it seems the CONCLUSION is that I can move the cylinder where I want, and install my push start button. now the final question is.

WHERE DO YOU FIND NICE PUSH BUTTONS these days. There used to be a brand that made them, ignited of something, but i dont think they're around anymore are they?
