Relay Isolator?

Hi, so i have a quick question... so if i run a second battery in the trunk will I need a relay isolator like this?

Check out the battery doctor 100 and 150amp isolators, much easier to install as you dont have to run wire to the ignition source.

so it looks like those you just wire the 12v from both batts to the isolator and thats it?

yup, and a ground. I have a 100amp one that im not using if you want it. $50 shipped.

I've never used one but Holic will tell you it will cause the batteries life to be diminished. If I were putting together a system from the ground up with new equipment I would probably use one now just for the piece of mind. It makes sense electrically.

How is that possible? If the Aux battery is a deep cycle or dry cell it should not affect the life as they are meant to discharge fully... i dont know much but we run them on the boat because we play the music with the engine off a lot

Personaly would just use fuzes I used to use isolates but can't tell the diff unless you plan on running your system with the car off frequently

I'm going to be installing a 2nd battery soon I have a 200 amp circuit breaker between the engine bay and the firewall do I need another cb or fuse before the 2nd battery?

are you going to be running an isolator, but yes, you should also fuse between 2 batteries. You have to fuse between the isolator and aux battery anyways.

I wont be needing an iso I just listen when the car is on and if its off its only for a few mins never a long time.
