relapse

I think you forgot some people but hit it on the head. I wouldve liked to see raekwon, Rza, Gza, Maybe Meth and Red, And more of the Wu Tang Peoples and older bone thugs ( Look Into my eyes, why do i stay high, First of the month, Days of our lives )
Eminem is an amazing lyricist but i think he has a work ethics problem, hes rich now so why work at it. Theres ntohing else he can do really. I bet if he went bankrupt and was on the verge of losing everything and decided to do an album it would be hotter than imaginable. But untill then we get his playful side that isnt really that great. Ill buy the CD and check it out cuz im a true Em fan. But he isnt on top of his game anymore.
Wu-Tang Clan, Outkast, Nas, Common, BIG, REDMAN Jay-Z pretty much got me through the 90s.....lol. And the money part you touched on is how I feel about my big name artists (Jay, Eminem, etc.) They got paid and just started mailing it in. It's hard to stay thirsty when you can pop Criss at will I guess.

It's like the opposite.......well almost. At one time what did and still does make money was that gangsta shit. NWA, Ice T. Geto Boys etc. Killing on wax was what was selling. I mean it all has to have have a rhyme pattern and all of that, but dig this......
You said you loved illmatic right? Now imagine AZ and Nas doing Life's a bytch without music in a hallway or a cypher as it's called. That's hip hop. Now put Lil John or Soulja Boy in that same cypher and that shit doesn't work. They can't freestyle, hell they can't even write 16 bars. For them it's the beat that brings people not the lyrics.

So it requires a lot more skill by my definition of hip hop.
Yes, i see it the same way. I guess i just consider the two to be opposite of what you consider, and if there are proper terms i must be wrong. I am a big fan of the older gangster rap (project pat/36mafia) and older what you consider hiphop. I cant come to listen to anything on radios or really some of the underground stuff i have been hearing thats recent.

I, one of few, also like lil waynes newer style.... well i listened to his caterIII.

I could talk about music all day long. I love music!

We totally jacked this thread, but it's all good. I don't even think my radio antenna is even hooked up.......lol. But honestly, hip hop is whatever you want it to be. You'll have your purists (like me) that will frown on this music that is out now and always compare it to the music of my day. But someone from a different walk of life might do the same. So though I disagree with the OP thinking EM studio albums are hip hop, he has the right to think and feel how he wants.

what's hip hop to you? lil john? hip hop is biggie, jay-z, nas, eminem, jadakiss. EMINEM ISNT HIP HOP? yea right your crazy.
Thank you metsfan....I'm with you 100%. EMINEM IS NOT HIPHOP, it's dogshit!

all the artists you mentioned in your first response to me i listened to. and i totally agree with you. times have changed though and so has hip hop. there are no more lyricists. but come on man you can't tell me eminem is not hip hop. he is one of the greatest lyricists of all times man. Have you heard renegade with him and jay-z? thats hip hop man. i did pick up red and meth's new cd but didnt get to listen to it yet.

I think that statement is wrong. There are plenty of lyriscists, but in this Rap/hip hop industry today there just isnt a place for them.

Renegade is an old song, 01ish i think. And everyone knows Em murdered that track, listen to Nas diss Jay-Z and he says it.

The song was hot I'll admit, but He's more a rap artists. Maybe it's all the TV coverage and shit that makes me think he's not. The fact that we know his whole life story. On Renegade he HAD to do his best. He was on a track with whom many considered the best rapper at the time and anything less may have killed his career. The same on Dead Wrong. My favorite tracks he made were Rabbit Run, Renegade, Dead wrong verse, and The Sauce. But he's fallen off HARD. Hard to the point where Mr. Cannon-Carey is coming at him.

I think there is a place for them, just not a rightful place. In my opinion, there are still some lyricists that have some mainstream clout, the guys in Slaughterhouse being four of them. Royce, Joe Budden, Crooked I, and Joell Ortiz are four talented dudes. Thoughts on Tech N9ne at all? Although he is still underground, kind of.

this cd is much better than his other recent stuff, personally I didnt like it very much to begin with but its growing on me. Can't wait for relapse 2 to come out later this year
i agree. Am i the only one who thinks medicine ball and staw wide awake shit on just about everything on MM LP?
